I know this very well. When it happens to me,...Yes. I know this very well. When it happens to me, it's as if a sledge hammer has descended from the sky and I feel and think "Holy shit! I'm still not over this?" It does set one back a bit, but you know it'll go away, too, for a time. Today my sister called...A big hug to you sweetie.

Today my sister called me and we talked about her preparations for a party at her oldest child's preschool. That was the first "normal" convo we had had in months. Usually we talk about the latest crazy diagnosis or hospital stay of her youngest, who has Down syndrome, Hirschsprung's disease, Failure to Thrive, neurogenic bladder, Infantile Spasms, Generalized epilepsy with myoclonia and a Tethered Spinal Cord (yeah I copied and pasted that because I can never remember all of them). I realized that my sister and I have been robbed of having "normal" conversations about our children and of having a "normal" adult sibling relationship. My sister's youngest is only 2 so I'm sure we will have many "gotcha" moments in the years to come.

Thank you for this post and for putting your heart out there. Though we haven't seen each other in over 10 years, I remember you being a very sensitive soul. And that sensitivity, I think, makes you the right kind of parent for someone with your daughter's challenges.

Sending you love and thinking good thoughts.Heidihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13263795936437012313noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1015001070408415901.post-83409052157531544562009-12-09T13:12:00.548-08:002009-12-09T13:12:00.548-08:00I am sorry that hit you so hard.

Around the anniversary of my son's birth and his time in the NICU, I was a sobbing, slobbery mess.

Hang in there, you are not alone.Hazel Nuthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05356591002559889575noreply@blogger.com
