O and M lesson with blind toddler

I just found this video of a 2 year old learning to use a white cane. This is the type of work I'm learning to do.

Ten years ago, professionals believed that a young child was too young to learn to use a white cane, but these days, toddlers are given canes even before they can walk.

I can't wait until I finish school and start teaching!

Wow- that is so awesome! What a cool job to have- how long until you're done with school?

with luck, one more year. I may have one or two electives to finish, but I'll be able to work in a year.

awesome -- that's why it's important to go with your instincts and gut, I think, and not listen to prognoses that just don't seem "right."
